La economía de Cienfuegos: el Grupo Gallego (1880- 1930)
Resumen
El desarrollo del proceso migratorio hispánico a Cuba y de manera particular a Cienfuegos constituye un tema sustancial para entender la estructura y dinámica económica que tuvo lugar en la región cienfueguera, a partir de la segunda mitad del siglo XIX y primeras décadas del XX, donde se reconoce por distintos investigadores que ha ocurrido el mayor flujo de inmigrantes españoles al continente americano y a la Isla. El acercamiento al estudio del grupo gallego permitió identificar cómo se produjo su inserción en diferentes ramos de la economía cienfueguera. La participación activa en la vida económica regional de un grupo de ellos, que mediante la conformación de sociedades mercantiles, hizo que se convirtieran en miembros de la élite económica de Cienfuegos. Las actividades donde hubo mayor presencia de los gallegos fueron en el comercio, la explotación del transporte marítimo y fluvial y el desarrollo de las industrias menores.

ABSTRACT
The development of the Hispanic Cuba migration process and in particular to Cienfuegos is an important topic to understand the structure and economic dynamics that took place in the Cienfuegos region, starting from the second half of the 19th century and first decades of the twentieth, where is recognized by various researchers that it has occurred with the increased flow of Spanish immigrants to the American continent and the island. The approach to the study of the Galician group identified was its inclusion in different branches of the economy of Cienfuegos. Active participation in the economic life of a group of them, through the formation of corporations, regional did they become members of the economic elite of Cienfuegos. Activities where there was a greater presence of Galicians were in trade, the exploitation of sea and river transport and the development of minor industries.
