La Educación CTS en el proceso de formación del Ingeniero Informático

Resumen

El presente trabajo posee como objetivo analizar el papel que desempeña la educación en Ciencia, Tecnología y Sociedad (CTS) en el proceso de formación del ingeniero informático. En este sentido, se considera la educación como un proceso social complejo e histórico concreto, en el que ocurre la transmisión y apropiación de la herencia cultural acumulada por el ser humano. La Universidad, entidad de la Educación Superior, como institución social, contribuye a preservar, desarrollar o promover la cultura. A ella le corresponde el papel privilegiado de ser la que más integralmente puede hacerlo como lo requiere estos tiempos. Por su parte la educación CTS asume múltiples objetivos y puede realizarse de diversas formas. La sociedad contemporánea, impregnada de ciencia y tecnología, necesita que los profesionales manejen saberes científicos y técnicos que permita responder a necesidades cotidianas, sean éstas personales, competentes, culturales, lúdicas o para la participación democrática. En el trabajo se abordan, además, las diferentes concepciones sobre la ciencia, la tecnología y la sociedad que se dan en el proceso de formación del profesional de la carrera Ingeniería Informática. Esta investigación reviste gran importancia, pues toda actividad docente-educativa requiere de una profundización en el trabajo de la educación CTS, en este caso insuficiente en la especialidad de Ingeniería Informática. ABSTRACT The objective of this paper is to analyze the role of education in Science, Technology and Society (CTS) in the process of training the computer engineer. In this sense, education is considered as a complex and historical concrete social process, in which the transmission and appropriation of the cultural heritage accumulated by the human being occurs. The University, entity of Higher Education, as a social institution, contributes to preserve, develop or promote culture. It has the privileged role of being the one who can do it more integrally as required by these times. On the other hand, CTS education assumes multiple objectives and can be done in different ways. The contemporary society, impregnated with science and technology, needs professionals to handle scientific and technical knowledge that allows responding to daily needs, if they are personal, competent, cultural, playful or for democratic participation. The work also focuses on the different conceptions of science, technology and society that occur in the process of training the career of Computer Engineering. This research has a great importance, since all teaching-educational activity that requires a deepening in the work of CTS education, in this case, insufficient in the specialty of Computer Engineering.
