La libertad política como esencia del proyecto emancipador martiano

Resumen

José Martí analiza la libertad desde la perspectiva de la patria en su condición de colonia, y desde la otra vertiente, los impedimentos que limitan la libertad de los individuos y las colectividades humanas. Siempre asume esta cuestión como necesidad de la esencia natural y social del hombre y de las relaciones entre los pueblos y sus culturas. No parte del mercado como la mayoría de los pensadores liberales, sino de las condiciones de desigualdad e injusticia, de explotación física y mental, propias del sistema de poder colonial que aplasta a la nación cubana, que, como comunidad humana definida por sus intereses y necesidades, exige nuevas formas de gobiernos y de relaciones entre los individuos. Se requiere un Estado constituido mediante la unión de todas las personas, bajo leyes que aseguren la libertad natural–como primera condición- así como las libertades civiles y políticas: Martí expresa y defiende el punto de vista de que la libertad cívica no es meramente un atributo posible de la vida social, sino una condición inalienable para poder vivir de acuerdo con la naturaleza del hombre, es un derecho natural humano.

ABSTRACT

José Martí analyzes freedom from the perspective of the homeland in its condition of colony, and from the other side, the impediments that limit the freedom of individuals and human collectivities. He always assumes this question as a necessity of the natural and social essence of man and of the relations between peoples and their cultures. It does not originate in the market relations, as it is the case with most liberal thinkers, but in the conditions of inequality and injustice, of physical and mental exploitation, characteristic of the system of colonial power that crushes the Cuban nation, which, as a human community defined by its interests and needs, demands new forms of government and relations between individuals. It requires a State constituted through the union of all people, under laws that ensure natural freedom -as a first condition- as well as civil and political liberties: Martí expresses and defends the point of view that civic freedom is not merely a possible attribute of social life, but an inalienable condition to be able to live in accordance with the nature of man, it is a natural human right.
