Abstract

ABSTRACT

The work is part of the current studies of the diachronic and synchronous processes of contacts between African languages and Spanish in Cuba, studies that present confusing theoretical spaces that hinder a correct analysis of the phenomena that are presented. The method of analysis was eminently analytical of the diachrony in the history of Afro-Hispanic lexicography. An analysis of the necessary categories for the study of the linguistic legacies of African origin that work in Cuban Spanish is made. This line of Hispanic studies lacks precision from the theoretical point of view, which is why it is necessary to establish a conceptual system that outlines and unifies definitions of the most necessary categories in the study of these linguistic facts. Among the categories that are analyzed are: linguistic reservoir, remnant, canonical data and variation, estrangement and ritual language. The results are derived from the proposed definitions of these categories. The bibliography used is the classic one in the studies of the last decades: A. Schwegler, F. Moreno Fernández, Pardo García, J. Lipski, C. Rojas-Primus.

Keywords: Hispanic studies, Linguistic categories, Afro-Hispanic lexicography, Diachrony.
