Effectiveness of the honey of bees meliponas in children with burns

Abstract

An experimental study was carried out with the purpose of determining the effectiveness of the treatment with Meliponas Honey in school-age children with minor burns belonging to the Urban Popular Council of Lajas, in the period from June 1, 2019 to April 30. January 2023. The universe was represented by 54 children of which 30 were selected, said sample was divided into two groups, 15 children in each one. To collect the information, a survey was designed. With the information collected, a database was created using the SPSS program for Windows version 2.0 that allowed statistical processing. The male sex predominated in the age group between 11 and 18 years. Friction burns was the most frequently found etiology in our study. All clinical signs that are part of mild burns appeared in this age group. The clinical evaluation at 72h and 7days of treatment in Group I treated with 1% Silver Sulfadiazine evolved torpidly and required treatment with oral antibiotics. The clinical evaluation at 72h and 7days of treatment in Group II treated with Honey from Meliponas Bees evolved satisfactorily without the use of oral antibiotics.
