Strategic analysis of public transportation in Quito in a post-pandemic context
Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the internal and external factors that affect the public transportation service in the community of Quito in the post-pandemic context. To do this, a methodology was applied that used surveys and interviews to collect data from users and operators of public transport, which were analyzed using a strategic framework based on SWOT analysis (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats). Among the most notable results was that the pandemic exacerbated pre-existing problems in the sector, but also opened the door to new opportunities for improvement and modernization. The study's conclusions and recommendations suggest the need to implement strategies to improve infrastructure, adopt new technologies, optimize financial management and increase service capacity. The study represents a significant advance in understanding the impact of the pandemic on public transport and provides an adaptable framework for similar contexts.
