Justice of peace in Ecuador: a community alternative for conflict resolution.
Abstract
Peace justice in Ecuador is a key mechanism to guarantee access to justice in rural and marginalized communities, by promoting the peaceful resolution of conflicts through principles of equity and conciliation. This system, based on community participation and the peaceful resolution of conflicts, seeks to overcome the limitations of the formal judicial system by offering more agile, economical and close processes. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness and perception of communities about the impartiality and accessibility of peace justice in Ecuador. For this purpose, a quantitative investigation was carried out with a descriptive approach and a survey was applied to 50 residents of rural communities. Communities value the need for greater training, material and technological resources, and continuous evaluation. As recommendations, it is proposed to strengthen the training of justices of the peace, increase financing, implement accessible digital technologies and develop community awareness campaigns.
