Warm-Up in School Physical Education: Physiological and Pedagogical Aspects
Abstract
The present study aimed to analyze the current state of scientific literature on the physiological effects and pedagogical contributions of warm-up activities in school physical education. A descriptive bibliographic review was conducted to systematize relevant research in the fields of education and physical activity. The search process was carried out in several academic databases, followed by the selection and analysis of studies, resulting in a corpus of eleven scientific articles. The results showed that warm-up activities played a fundamental role in the functional activation of the organism by promoting the progressive preparation of physiological systems involved in physical activity. In addition, their contribution to improving motor performance and reducing the risk of injuries in the school context was identified. From a pedagogical perspective, warm-up activities enhanced student motivation, encouraged active participation, and supported the organization of the teaching-learning process. In conclusion, warm-up activities were recognized as an essential component of school physical education, integrating physiological and pedagogical benefits that influence the quality of the educational process. The need to design methodological strategies to enhance their implementation and to promote further research from innovative perspectives was emphasized.
