Fun program to teach basketball dribbling to children from the Tigres Club of Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico
Abstract
This study, conducted using a quantitative approach and an experimental scope, evaluated the impact of a program of recreational and cooperative activities on the technical elements of dribbling among children aged 8 to 12 at the Tigres Basketball Club in Ciudad del Carmen during the year 2024. The research adopted a pre-experimental design, involving a sample of 20 children from the club's beginner sports category for 12 weeks. The main objective was to verify the program's effectiveness in developing the technical skills of dribbling. Participants' performance was evaluated using a pre- and post-test, using an Observation Sheet to identify initial errors such as technical deficiencies, ball loss, and insufficient motor skills. The program included games designed to stimulate technical and motor skills in a dynamic and engaging manner. The results showed significant improvements in dribbling skills, demonstrating progress in both technical precision and motor coordination. In conclusion, the program was effective in improving the technical dribbling skills of children in the studied age group, highlighting the importance of integrating recreational activities as a pedagogical strategy in sports training. It is suggested that this approach be replicated in other contexts to promote holistic learning and athletic development from an early age.
