Aerobic Activities with Music for Obese Older Adults
Abstract
Dance therapy is a healthy and fun option to improve the quality of life of all older adults. It is widely spread throughout the country, but there is insufficient incorporation into the practice of older adults with chronic non-communicable diseases in the San Lázaro Popular Council. To respond to this problem, the author has proposed to determine the impact of dance therapy on this age group with chronic non-communicable diseases. This research aims to disseminate the benefits that it brings to raise self-esteem, overcome loneliness, shyness and establish new relationships. To complement this objective, theoretical and empirical methods were used; the sample consisted of a total of 40 older adults to whom surveys and interviews were applied to find out the most preferred traditional dances in dance therapy. The research carried out, as an element, provides knowledge to teachers based on the results of the applied methods, which allows them to increase physical activity in older adults.
