Abstract

The attention to Schoolchildren with Special Educational needs constitute a concern for both governments and teachers. Among the areas to work with these students is the area of motor skills through the Physical Education class. In schoolchildren with visual disabilities, stimulating physical coordination abilities through Physical Education is of vital importance in achieving independence and security. The objective of this research is aimed at applying modified traditional games to improve spatial orientation in schoolchildren with visual disabilities. Two schoolchildren diagnosed as blind are taken as a sample, to whom an initial diagnosis of the state of spatial orientation is carried out, then modified traditional games are applied and in a second moment, this physical coordination capacity is re-evaluated through a test. The research corresponds to a pre-experimental design with pretest and posttest for a single group and a longitudinal study. Theoretical and empirical methods and techniques of mathematical statistics are used. The results obtained reveal that only one schoolgirl managed to move from a category from average to good, which implies the need for differentiated attention to this schoolgirl.
