Activities to encourage the participation of young women in the optional time of Sport for All

Authors

Abstract

Through previous research, it has been found that the Sport for All activities carried out at the Owen Fundora Valdivia Joint Center of the Popular Council September 5 in the municipality of Rodas do not motivate female students to participate, as they do not align with their preferences. The general objective of this study was to propose activities to encourage female participation in the optional time of Sport for All. The main research methods used were the Survey and Document Review. For this study, a sample of 26 students was selected from a ninth-grade enrollment of 62, representing 41.9% of the population. For data processing, a descriptive approach was applied using frequency distributions and percentages for each survey question, presenting the proportion of students according to their liking of the activities, the consideration of their preferences by the teacher, and the type of preferred activity. The initial diagnosis revealed difficulties in active, conscious, and motivated participation of students during the optional time of Sport for All, especially given their stage of learning based on prior sports skills. As a result, a set of activities was developed to encourage female participation in the optional time of Sport for All.
